LANGLEY, B.C. – For the sixth time in the 2025-26 season,
Yemane Mulugeta is the Spartans Male Athlete of the Week, presented by West Coast Toyota.
Mulugeta won a bronze medal at the NAIA Outdoor Track & Field Championships in the 5000m with a time of 14:20.26 to earn the Spartans first-ever medal at the national outdoor championships.
As a second-year student-athlete, Mulugeta finished his 2025-26 academic year, which included cross country and both indoor and outdoor track and field seasons, with three Cascade Conference Championship gold medals, including gold in cross country and gold in the 1500m and 5000m outdoors, and two NAIA bronze medals, as he added to his third-place finish at the national cross country championships with his bronze this past week. This year, Mulugeta also set TWU records in the 1500m, 3000m (indoors) and the 5000m.
Sheleena Wiley is the Spartans Female Athlete of the Week, presented by West Coast Toyota, as she earned All-American honours with a seventh-place finish in long jump at the NAIA championships. Wiley jumped 5.79m.
