LA GRANDE, Oregon – Trinity Western won a pair of gold medals Saturday, with
Rui Ramsay winning gold in the 200m and
Yemane Mulugeta nabbing top spot in the 5000m, as TWU finished the Cascade Collegiate Conference Track & Field Championships with 11 medals from the two-day event.
Ramsay won two medals on Saturday, taking first in the 200m in 21.26, and also grabbed silver in the 100m in 10.55. Meanwhile, Mulugeta's gold medal on Saturday capped a double-gold medal weekend after the Spartans second-year middle distance star also won gold in the 1500m on Friday.
TWU's gold medal-winning duo of Ramsay and Mulugeta helped lift the Spartans to an impressive five medal haul on Saturday, with
Danny Earles taking silver in the 200m in 21.28 and
Favour Adeyanju winning bronze in the 100m in 10.59.
TWU's 4x400m broke an 11-year-old TWU record with a time of 3:16.91. The quartet of
Gabriel Mangalindan,
Ethan Gremaud,
Jaron Isfan and
Danny Earles bettered the previous time of 3:19.03, which was set May 2, 2015 by Andrew DeGroot, Jamie Sinclair Aiden Kits and Nathan George.
The Spartans also had TWU record-setting performances by
Erik Solomon in javelin with a throw of 54.09m, Elijah Headly in the 800m in 1:54.36 and Eileen Noordam in javelin with a throw of 41.83m.
Solomon bettered the previous record of 47.42m, which was set by
Brandon Gremaud April 12, 2025 in Langley. Headley knocked off the previous 800m record of 1:54.46, which was set by Adam Marshall on April 25, 2015 in Bellingham, Wash. Noordam beat her own mark of 36.82m, which she set April 11, 2026 in Langley.
As a team, the Spartans men's team finished third overall in the 12-team CCC field, with 102.5 points. The women's team was sixth with 49 points.
