LA GRANDE, Oregon – Trinity Western's
Yemane Mulugeta captured the Spartans first-ever gold medal at the Cascade Collegiate Conference Track & Field Championships, winning the 1500m in 3:54.14 as TWU made their debut at the CCC championship meet Friday.
Meanwhile, on the women's side, Eileen Noordam led the way, nabbing a silver medal in shot put, which equaled her TWU record of 12.76m.
Beyond Mulugeta and Noordam, TWU also picked up four bronze medals on Day 1 of the two-day meet. TWU's men's 4x100m team, which included

Rui Ramsay and
Jonathan Toews, set a TWU record and earned the NAIA National "B" Standard with a bronze-medal winning time of 40.91. The 4x100m bettered the previous TWU record of 41.29, which they set April 25, 2026 in Bellingham, Wash.
Earles finished the day with two bronze medals after also winning bronze in the 400m with a time of 47.47, which earned him a National "B" Standard. The product of Conception Bay, Nfld. also set the Newfoundland provincial 400m record.
Earlier in the day,
Malcolm Reid won bronze in the 3000m steeplechase in 9:31.63 and
David Mutai took bronze in the 10,000m in 32:22.14
The second and final day of competition at the CCC Championships is Saturday.
