LANGLEY, British Columbia – Trinity Western forward Kyra McDonald (Inuvik, NT) has been named the Spartan Female Athlete of the Week. McDonald had a goal and two assists with eight shots to help lead the Spartans to a sweep of the MacEwan Griffins this past weekend in Edmonton, Alta.
On Friday night the kinesiology student helped lead the Spartans to a 4-1 win with an assist on three shots. Then on Saturday night, in the Spartans' 3-0 win, McDonald had a goal and an assist with five shots.
McDonald and the 7-5 Spartans will now put their record-setting six-game winning streak up against the visiting No. 5 Mount Royal Cougars (8-2-1-1) on Friday, November 22, and Saturday, November 23. The Friday game starts at 7 p.m. (PT) and the Saturday game is set for 1 p.m. (PT) puck drop at the Langley Events Centre. Both matches can be seen live on Canada West TV.
