LANGLEY, British Columbia –Trinity Western third-year Rui Ramsay (Calgary, Alta.) is the Spartans' Male Athlete of the Week, after winning a gold, silver, and a bronze medal this past weekend at the Cascade Conference Championship at Banner Bank Track at Eastern Oregon University in La Grande, Oregon.
 
The business student won a gold medal in the 200m with a time of 21.26 seconds and a silver medal in the 100m with a time of 10.55 seconds, and with fellow Spartans, Favour Adeyanju, Danny Earlse, and Jonathan Toews also earned bronze in the men’s 4x100 relay with at time of 40.91 seconds, which set a new TWU record and made NAIA Championship Qualifying B Standard. The three medals helped lead the Spartans to a third-place finish at the Cascade Conference Championship.
 
Ramsay and the Spartans will now have a couple of weeks off before heading to the NAIA Championships at Karl Straus Track at UNC Asheville in Asheville, North Carolina, May 20-22.
 
About Spartan Athletics
As official members of U SPORTS, the Spartans currently compete in 11 sports in the Canada West conference, including women's and men's soccer, volleyball, basketball, hockey, and track & field, as well as women's rugby sevens. TWU also competes in the NAIA in track and field, cross country, and as an independent team in men's rugby and women's and men's disc golf. Since TWU entered U SPORTS in 1999, the Spartans have won 15 U SPORTS team championships and 34 Canada West team championships.
