LANGLEY, British Columbia – Trinity Western forward Aiden Knutson (Red Deer, Alta.) earned Spartan Male Athlete of the Week honors after recording three assists in the Spartans’ Canada West weekend series against the UBC Thunderbirds.

The second-year human kinetics student had two assists in Friday’s 6-5 overtime loss at The ARENAS at Langley Events Centre. Knutson set up Mikhailo Simchuk’s second-period power-play goal and Nicco Camazzola’s third-period equalizer as TWU rallied from a 4-2 deficit to earn a point.

On Saturday at Father David Bauer Arena in Vancouver, Knutson assisted on Lleyton Shearon’s shorthanded goal at 15:34 of the third period in a 4-1 loss. He finished with one assist, two shots on goal and a plus-one rating, bringing his weekend totals to three points and two shots on goal.

The Spartans will host the MacEwan Griffins on Friday, October 23, at 7 p.m. (PT) and Saturday, October 24, at 3 p.m. (PT) at The ARENAS at Langley Events Centre. Both games can be seen live on Canada West TV.
