LANGLEY, B.C. – The No. 1 ranked Spartans continue their home stand this weekend, playing host to UBC Okanagan Friday and Saturday at the Langley Events Centre.

THE WEEKEND STORY
  • TWU is coming off a pair of wins over Mount Royal last Friday (3-0) and Saturday (3-2).
  • UBC Okanagan hits the road still searching for its first win, having lost its opening 12 games of the season. It most recently lost a pair of games at home to Winnipeg (Jan. 10-11). 
  • TWU currently sits first in conference hitting percentage (.389) and points per set (17.2), while UBC Okanagan sits last (.120) and second last (12.3) respectively. 
  • Eric Loeppky (Steinbach, Man.) enters the weekend one ace shy of Paul Sanderson's (2007-11) career conference record of 144, set with Brandon.  
  • TWU is 29-1 all-time against the Heat, most recently defeating UBC Okanagan in straight sets at the Blue Team Cup (Oct. 3, 2019).
 
About Spartan Athletics
As official members of U SPORTS, the Spartans currently compete in 11 sports in the Canada West conference, including women's and men's soccer, volleyball, basketball, cross country and track & field, as well as women's rugby sevens. TWU also competes in the British Columbia Intercollegiate Hockey League (BCIHL) in men's hockey and as an independent team in men's rugby. The men's and women's hockey programs will begin playing in Canada West and U SPORTS in 2020-21. Since TWU entered U SPORTS in 1999, the Spartans have won 12 U SPORTS team championships and 27 Canada West team championships and two BCIHL championships.
