THE WEEKEND STORY
  • First place TWU returns after an impressive Can Am Tournament (Dec. 28-21, 2019), defeating NCAA champion Long Beach State (3-2), before a pair of sweeps over UCLA and Lewis in Toronto. The Spartans more recently played a trio of exhibition games on the road last weekend, defeating Brock University (3-0) before a pair of losses to No. 4 McMaster (3-2, 3-1).
  • Mount Royal comes to town on a four-game losing skid, most recently falling to Alberta in a pair of straight set losses (Nov. 22-23). They have lost 12 consecutive sets dating back to Nov. 15, 2019.
  • TWU will look to continue its program record consecutive sets streak (30-0), as the Spartans have yet to lose a set in conference play since Oct. 19, 2019 against Alberta.
  • TWU won both of its meetings against Mount Royal last season, both 3-0 wins in Calgary (Feb. 1-2, 2019).
  • The Spartans have won seven consecutive games against the Cougars, dating back to Nov. 28, 2015. TWU also holds a 13-2 record over its last 15 games against Mount Royal.
