VANCOUVER – Playing in their first contest in more than seven months, the Trinity Western women's soccer team dropped a hard-fought 1-0 decision against UBC Friday at Thunderbird Stadium.
AS IT HAPPENED
The Thunderbirds scored the lone goal of the game, tallying on a penalty kick midway through the second half. The Spartans put pressure on the T-Birds back line, but were unable to find the back of the net despite a number of quality opportunities.

QUOTABLE
TWU Head Coach Graham Roxburgh
"I'm super pleased we were able to get in and play 90 minutes. We were a hungry team with hungry players and we had a good showing out there. Both teams had some really good chances, but I thought maybe we were slightly the better team in terms of producing good chances. In the first half, we certainly put them under pressure and generated chances off the press.
Gabi Short (Calgary) in particular was unlucky not to score, but their keeper made a great save on her chance."
