WILLIAMS TO REPRESENT CANADA AT WORLD UNIVERSITY CHAMPIONSHIPS

LANGLEY, B.C. – Trinity Western's Joanna Williams (Campbell River, B.C.) will represent Canada at the 2020 World University Cross Country Championships, as the fifth-year runner is part of a 12-athlete contingent named to the Canadian team that will compete in Marrakesh, Morocco on March 7th.

This past fall, Williams had a breakout cross country season with the Spartans. She opened the 2019 season with a first-place finish at the Central Washington University Invitational, before following it up by winning the Vikes Invitational in Victoria two weeks later.

Williams continued rolling by winning a bronze medal at the Canada West Championships in Calgary, before a career-best 10th-overall finish at the U SPORTS Championships in Kingston, Ont.

Her last appearance this season came at the Canadian Championships in Abbotsford, B.C., where she finished 19th overall.

The 2020 FISU World University Cross Country Championships on March 7th opens with the women's race at 2:30 a.m. PT / 5:30 a.m. ET, followed by the men's race at 3:30 a.m. PT / 6:30 a.m. ET. Live streaming is available on FISU.TV.
