LANGLEY, B.C. – Trinity Western winger
Tamilore Awonusi (Dublin, Ireland) is this week's Spartan Male Athlete of the Week after an impressive Coastal Cup performance against Victoria.
Â
Awonusi got after it early, earning his first Coastal Cup try in the first 15 minutes of the match to put the Spartans up 10-5 over Victoria.
Â
TWU's chances at a win were put in jeopardy after UVIC proceeded to score the next 28 points, putting the Spartans down 33-10.
Â
Though the game had been turned on its head, Awonusi and the Spartans answered back with two tries and a penalty to narrow the margin, ending the game at 33-25 in favour of the Vikes.
Â
Awonusi's two tries were enough to join TWU centre
Guiseppe du Toit (Maple Ridge, B.C.) at the top of the Spartans leaderboard for tries scored in Coastal Cup play.
