SPARTANS DROP SECOND STRAIGHT TO VICTORIA

LANGLEY, B.C. – Trinity Western took their second loss of the season on Friday, losing 5-1 to Victoria.

The Spartans are now 3-2-4.

Both sides wasted no time in taking their chances as Jacob Low (Port Moody, B.C.) struck the ball into the back of the net in the 6th minute. Although spirits were high for the Spartans after their early marker Victoria fought back, scoring two of their own in the 11th and 18th minute, leaving the game at a 2-1 Victoria lead after 20 minutes of play.

Victoria wasn't done there, potting their third, fourth, and fifth goals of the half in the 37th, 39th, and 44th minute respectively.

Coming into the second half down 5-1, the Spartans were able to generate some dangerous chances. Still, Victoria had different plans, stopping the Spartans in their tracks once an opportunity arose. The Spartans were unable to get the ball back in the opposing net, ending the game at a 5-1 loss.

 QUOTABLE
TWU Head Coach Mike Shearon
"We started off strong. We wanted the guys to throw the first punch and they did that, but we thought it was going to be easy so we took the rest of the night off.

"In the end, you have to play the full game and remain focussed. We did none of the baseline things after their first goal. We turned off."
