LANGLEY, B.C. – Trinity Western University's
Hilary Howe (Calgary) will be playing her first year of professional volleyball in France, as the star outside has signed with the
Beziers Angels in the prestigious Ligue A Féminine.
Howe, who graduated this spring after a five-year career with the Spartans, joins fellow TWU alum Brie King ('19, Langley) with the Beziers Angels, with the duo set to compete together on the professional scene this fall.
Howe, who capped her playing career at TWU with back-to-back Canada West championships, in 2019 and 2020, has most recently had instant success in her
Volleyball Nations League debut, with the Calgarian earning a starting role on the court for Canada's senior team. With Howe helping lead the way, Canada took two wins from its first six matches, including an historic five-set victory over defending Olympic champion China.
In four playing seasons – with the 2020-21 season having been cancelled due to the pandemic – Howe was a three-time Canada West All-Star and was a First Team All-Canadian in 2019-20.
Internationally, Howe first burst onto the scene in 2019, representing Canada at the Summer Universiade, the Pan American Games, NORCECA Champions Cup and the NORCECA Women's Volleyball Continental Championship.
The Beziers Angels finished the 2020-21 season second overall in France's Ligue A Femine and were semifinalists in this year's CEV Cup, which is the second top official competition for women's volleyball clubs of Europe.
