SPARTANS EARN NEEDED WIN OVER PRONGHORNS

LETHBRIDGE, Alberta– After trailing for most of the first half the Trinity Western Spartans scored four unanswered goals to earn a 4-1 victory over the Lethbridge Pronghorns Saturday afternoon in Lethbridge, Alta.

Lethbridge's Kai Sakaguchi opened the scoring in the 9th minute, on a set piece from near the Spartan endline, to put the Pronghorns up 1-0 for most of the opening half. TWU's Adam Hajdecki (Surrey, B.C.) tied the match up in the 33rd minute as the two teams went into the break tied 1-1.

The Spartans Soren Di Sabatino (Langley, B.C.) got the game winner in the 62nd minute on a pretty strike from inside the penalty area into the top right corner of the Pronghorn's net.
TWU's Keishean Francois (White Rock, B.C.) got the insurance goal a minute later when the Spartans took advantage of a pass over the back line of the Pronghorn defence.     

The Spartans got an Own Goal in extra time when a Pronghorn headed the ball back into the Lethbridge net to make the final 4-1 for TWU.                                                

NOTABLE
• The Spartans are a lifetime 23-2-1 against the Pronghorns and have not lost to Lethbridge since a 2-1 toss October 31, 2009.
• TWU's Alexander Cordeiro (Burnaby, B.C.) made one save to earn the win for the Spartans, while Tegan Romaine made two saves in the loss for the Pronghorns.
• The Spartans out shot the Horn's 22-8 overall and 6-2 in shots on goal.
