SPARTANS WIN 2-1 OVER THOMPSON RIVERS

LANGLEY, B.C. – Two first half goals from Noah Kroeker (Calgary) and Soren Di Sabatino (Langley, B.C.) were enough to give Trinity Western a 2-1 win over Thompson Rivers at the Chase Office Field on Saturday.

TWU's (3-0-1) efforts were enough to knock off the previously undefeated WolfPack (3-1-0).

With this victory, the undefeated Spartans now sit atop the Pacific division with 10 points.

AS IT HAPPENED
The Spartans got to work early as Tristan Torresan's (North Vancouver, B.C.) corner kick found the head of Kroeker in the sixth minute to give the home side a 1-0 lead.

Di Sabatino found himself on a two-on-one opportunity in the 21st minute, beating TRU keeper Jackson Gardner for an open look at goal which he would convert.

TRU forward Jost Hausendorf applied pressure to TWU's 2-0 cushion in the 56th minute, beating Alex Cordeiro with a headed effort.

QUOTABLE
TWU Head Coach Mike Shearon
"It's nice to get a win against a quality opponent. The game could've gone either way at the beginning – they hit a crossbar, we took our chance, then they hit another crossbar. That's football, and that's also what Canada West soccer is about – two good teams matching up against each other.

"Grateful that we got the win tonight."

NOTABLE
Soren Di Sabatino has now scored in back-to-back matches for the first time in his career. Di Sabatino scored the 75th minute winner in Friday's 2-1 victory over UBC Okanagan.
• TWU's all-time record against TRU now sits at 10-4-2. (if win)
• The Spartans have never lost two consecutive matches against the WolfPack. (if win)
