SASKATOON, Sask. – After battling for five periods the Trinity Western Spartans dropped a 2-1 shootout (2-0) decision to the Saskatchewan Huskies Saturday evening in Saskatoon. The win moves the Huskies to 12-5-3, while the loss drops the Spartans to 9-8-2-1.
Saskatchewan's Sophie Lalor and Kendra Zuchotzki scored for the Huskies in the shootout, while Trinity Western failed to get the puck past Colby Wilson.
TWU's
Kate Fawcett (Tottenham, Ont.) made 21 saves in the shootout loss, while Saskatchewan's Wilson made 32 saves to earn the win.
All the scoring came in the second period. Kendra Zuchotzki got the lone goal for the Huskies, her fourth of the season, on the power play at 12:15. TWU's MacKenzie Mayo (Saskatoon, Sask.) answered for the Spartans with her fourth of the season, also on the power play, at 16:57 to even the scoring at 1-1.
