VANCOUVER, British Columbia – The Trinity Western Spartans outscored the Bishop's Gaiters 40-28 in the second half, but their rally fell short as Bishop's held on for the three-point win, 77-74, at the UBC tournament Saturday morning at War Memorial Gym in Vancouver, B.C.
The Spartans trailed 49-34 at the half.
Fourth-year guard
Jayden Gill (Abbotsford, B.C.) with 15 points, six assists, and five rebounds, and third-year guard
Shemaiah Abatayo (Vancouver, B.C.) with 11 points led the Spartans. Second-year guard
Sydney Bradshaw (Langley, B.C.), fourth-year
Kailey Reimer (Abbotsford, B.C.), and third-year guard
Ryann Lee (Calgary, Alta.) all added nine points each to the Spartans' cause. Victoria Gauna with 19 points, Sandra Mbekou with 13 points, and Kalina Alexander-Renaud with 11 points led the Gaiters.
