SPARTANS FALL TO BISONS

LANGLEY, British Columbia – The Trinity Western Spartans dropped a hard-fought one-goal game to the visiting Manitoba Bisons Friday night at the Langley Events Centre in Langley, B.C. The 1-0 loss to the Bisons drops the Spartans record to 4-4-0-1 for nine points, while the win moves the Bisons to 3-4-0-1 for seven points.

TWU third-year goalie Kate Fawcett (Tottenham, Ont.) was between the pipes for the Spartans, where she made 28 saves in the loss. While Meagan Relf made 25 saves to earn the shutout win for the Bisons.

AS IT HAPPENED
Manitoba's Kylie Lesuk scored the lone goal of the contest, her second of the year at 2:40 of the second period. With the assist going to Camille Enns.

QUOTABLE
TWU Head Coach Peter Hay
"Not how we wanted to start the game. After a great week of preparation, we came out flat. Took us two periods to get going and found ourselves down 1-0. We battled hard in the third period and had some prime chances that their goalie made some key saves for a well-deserved shutout. This was not our best effort. We lacked energy and passion. We have a great group that I know will battle back tomorrow and play Spartan hockey the right way. We will come ready and fight for a weekend split."
"I thought Kate was strong in net for us tonight, and Brooklyn Anderson (third-year centre, Shellbrook, Sask.) created some great scoring chances."
