TWU Head Coach Mike Shearon
"So that was huge for us tonight. You are playing the U SPORTS champions and they are a good team and they have a lot of pride and they want to do well and start off well. Everyone wants to start off well. So tonight was a big night for our program to be able to beat that team and win the way that we won and to be resilient throughout the match."
"Outside of the free kicks, we were able to limit most of their real chances for them. We got a bit lucky on the corner where they hit the bar. But defensively we are slowly getting to where we want to be with all 11 guys putting in the work. I think we will see some good growth in that area as we go through the season."
On Roxburgh's performance
"Xander was due. All preseason he has been finishing well in practice, but hasn't finished in a game. He was due one and it was a big one for him and I'm sure it is going to give him a lot of confidence. We have a lot of guys who are going to be fighting to find time on the field. And it's all about contribution and Xander contributed for sure tonight."
