SPARTANS REMAIN UNBEATEN

CALGARY, Alberta – Trinity Western third-year midfielder Xander Roxburgh (Langley, B.C.) scored in the 79th minute to keep the Spartans unbeaten as TWU tied the Calgary Dinos 1-1 at Dinosaur Field Saturday afternoon in Calgary, Alta. The tie moves the Spartans to 3-0-4, while moving the Dinos to 0-3-2.

Third-year keeper Yeshua Silwamba (Maple Ridge, B.C.) made eight saves to earn the tie, while Calgary's Liam Hunter made two saves.

AS IT HAPPENED
The Dinos opened the scoring in the 24th minute. From the deep left sideline, Calgary's James Greco-Taylor sent a far ball toward the centre of the Spartans' box. The Dinos Aidan Izadi found open space to meet the pass and send it into the open right side of the Spartans' net to put Calgary up 1-0.

The Spartans Roxburgh tied the match up in the 79th minute. TWU first-year defender Vito De Cotiis (Burnaby, B.C.) took a fine pass from third-year midfielder Thomas Powell (Coquitlam, B.C.) up the right side of the park and then sent the ball into the centre of the Calgary box. Roxburgh then one-timed the ball into the open side of the Dinos' net to tie the match at 1-1 with just over 10 minutes remaining.

QUOTABLE
TWU Head Coach Mike Shearon
"Overall I'm happy with the results based on where things were in the game. It took us a while to get going. But there were a number of positives from today. We were down early and we were able to battle back. There was some good fight in our team and some desire to get back in the game. And the back line held together for the most part, which was good, we just need to fix a few little things."

"It's our first main road trip of the year and it is always good to get that under our belts and get used to it. So that was a good positive as well. We'll take the point and get out of here and get ready for next weekend."
