SPARTANS KNOCK OFF SIMON FRASER IN PRESEASON ACTION

BURNABY, B.C. – Trinity Western beat Simon Fraser 96-86 Friday to improve to 2-0 in the preseason.

After a 104-102 over Western University on Thursday, the Spartans kept their momentum rolling with a 10-point win over the NCAA Division II SFU Red Leafs.

The win marks TWU's first victory over SFU in 15 years, having last knocked off the Red Leafs Jan. 29, 2009, when SFU was still playing in Canada West. The last time TWU and SFU played was Nov. 16, 2019 when SFU took a 98-93 win.

QUOTABLE
Trevor Pridie, TWU Head Coach
"The guys played really well tonight. It was nice to see different guys step up and show the depth we have. I thought everyone who played was good and everyone contributed to the win. Tyler Sipma (Lynden, Wash.) was fantastic. He played a great all-around game and made huge plays to secure the win. It was nice to see the team improving game by game in the preseason."

NEXT UP
The Spartans will now travel to Bellingham, Wash. to take on Western Washington University (NCAA Div. II) Oct. 23 at 7 p.m.
