QUOTABLE
Trinity Western Head Coach Mike Shearon
"It was a complete game for us. I thought all phases of the game we did really well. We still had a couple times where we questioned what we were doing and why we're doing certain things, because that wasn't part of the game plan. But the attacking group has really come on. Charles had another great performance, great to get Emmanuel two goals today. Malcolm Kengni (second-year, midfield, Maple Ridge, B.C.) had a good game and maybe could have had one and Tommy hit the post, and we had a couple of other good chances. So overall, I'm happy with the game. But in the end, it now comes down to what you do the next game. So this game is behind us now and we are on to the next one and we need to make sure we come out with the same performance."

AS IT HAPPENED
The Spartans opened the scoring in the 13th minute after a steal by fourth-year midfielder Thomas Powell (Coquitlam, B.C.) sent TWU's Dan-Adokiene in alone on UBC Okanagan's Woodroffe. Dan-Adokiene made no mistake and found the back of the net to put TWU up 1-0. The Spartans doubled the margin in the 25th minute when Nana was fouled from behind in the Heat penalty area. Nana converted the PK to put TWU up 2-0. UBCO cut the lead in half in the 39th minute. The goal came when Aidan Synnuck took a pass from Jaise Shaw and beat TWU's Petri to make the score 2-1 for the Spartans. TWU had a 9-6 edge in total shots, and 5-3 edge in shots on goal in the first half.

Dan-Adokiene got his second of the game on a fine play with Nana. Nana went up the left side and worked his way past the outside defenders to get in the Heat penalty area. Nana then sent a perfect pass along the deck to Dan-Adokiene who slide in to redirect the ball into the UBC Okanagan net and put TWU up 3-1 in the 61st minute.
