CALGARY, Alberta – The Trinity Western Spartans had a tough night Friday as they fell 7-0 to the Calgary Dinos at the Father David Bauer Arena Friday night in Calgary, Alta. The loss drops the Spartans to 2-12-0-1, while the win improves the Dinos to 9-5-0-1.
Scoring for the Dinos were Jake Gricius, with two goals, Colson Gengenbach, Zach Wytinck, Dylan Sydor, Noah King, and Logan Hauer.
Second-year goalie
Leon Sommer (Linz, Aust.) made 36 saves in just over 51 minutes, while first-year goalie
Cole Savage (Abbotsford, B.C.) made four saves in nearly nine minutes for the Spartans in the TWU loss, while Connor Martin made 25 saves for the Dinos to earn the shutout in the Calgary win.

The Spartans and Dinos will finish the two-game weekend series tomorrow at 6 p.m. (MT) at the Father David Bauer Arena. The game can be seen live on Canada West TV.
AS IT HAPPENED
Calgary got things going early in the opening period with Gricius netting his sixth of the year less than eight minutes in for the first goal of the game. A mere 55 seconds later, Calgary capitalized on a steal by Jadon Joseph, who found a wide-open Gengenbach for his eighth of the year to quickly make it 2-0.
Gricius scored the first Dinos' power play goal of the night later in the first for his seventh of the season to make it 3-0 heading into the first intermission.
Wytinck and Sador each finished off a power play chance for Calgary in the second to make it 5-0 after two.
Once again with the man advantage, King got in on the action in the third before rookie Hauer added another, with assists coming from fellow rookies Logen Hammett and Tyson Galloway.
