VICTORIA, British Columbia – The Trinity Western Spartans opened the University of Victoria "Keg Cup" tournament with a 3-2 (4-3PK) win over the UBC Thunderbirds Saturday afternoon in Victoria, B.C. The victory moves the Spartans onto the gold medal match Sunday afternoon.
 
TWU third-year keeper Alexander Cordeiro (Burnaby, B.C.) made a number of crucial stops in regulation and penalty kicks to secure the win for the Spartans. Second-year midfielder Kieran Eve scored the winner in Penalty Kicks, with third-year defender Luca Alberti (Burnaby, B.C.) scoring in the first half and third-year forward Christian Rossi (Surrey, B.C.) scoring the tying goal late in the second half.

The Spartans will now play the winner of Victoria and Fraser Valley in tomorrow's gold medal match. Game time is set for 4:15 p.m. at Centennial Stadium in Victoria, B.C.
