AS IT HAPPENED
After a quiet start to the game the visiting Spartans were the first to get on the board in the 23rd minute, when a misplayed back pass to the Bears keeper was intercepted by Nana who rounded Collens and put a calm finish in the back of the net for his second of the campaign. The home side was quick to respond, as just five minutes later a beautiful Normandeau cross went over an extended Cordeiro and found the boot of Idrizi who made no mistake from in close for his second goal of the campaign as well, which knotted the game at 1. Alberta had some real chances near the end of the half, but would enter the intermission with a 1-1 score.
After moving to a more aggressive press at the break, the Spartans again broke through on a beautiful, chipped goal from Low in the 58th minute off a through ball from third-year midfield
Kieran Eve (Coquitlam, B.C.). It was his third of the year which puts him in a tie for fourth place in the CW Golden Boot race. Trinity Western impressed for the majority of the second half, putting lots of pressure on an unusually porous Alberta defence that came into the match 4th in the CW in goals against per game. However, a chance cross from Frankroy Cain in the 78th minute found the head, then the boot of Cato who scored his first of the year to even the score at two with 10 minutes remaining. Then, with just two minutes remaining in regular time, Cain finished a headed pass from Caden Ruby that beat the keeper for the winning score, his second of the campaign.
