Francis Powell's (Coquitlam, B.C.) goal in the 28th minute proved to be all Trinity Western needed as the Spartans defeated the MacEwan Griffins 1-0 Sunday afternoon at Edmonton Scottish Stadium in Edmonton, Alta. The win improves the Spartans to 2-4-1, while the loss drops the Griffins to 2-5-1.
TWU third-year keeper
Alexander Cordeiro (Burnaby, B.C.) made two saves to earn the shutout victory, while Oleksandr Popravka made five saves in the Griffins loss.

The Spartans will be on the road again next week against the UNBC Timberwolves. Match time at Masich Place Stadium in Prince George on September 28 and 29 is set for 1 p.m. (PT).
