SPARTANS SPLIT WEEKEND AGAINST CASCADES

Box Score

LANGLEY. - Trinity Western fell on the second night of a back to back to the Cascades, losing 86-79

After a strong first half which, at one point, saw the Spartans leading by double digits, the Cascades began to creep their way back, and eventually took the lead in the fourth quarter. The Spartans continued to battle, but it wasn't enough to close the gap.

Connor Platz (Langley, B.C.) had another big game offensively, leading the Spartans with 22 points, grabbed nine rebounds, and denied eight shots. Marcus Shankar (Campbell River, B.C.) set a new career high, also scoring 22 points, while also having six rebounds and four assists. For the Cascades, Marcus Flores led the way with 18 points.

QUOTABLE

TWU Head Coach Trevor Pridie,

"We didn't rebound the way we needed to tonight. Effort on the glass changes games, and we've got to be better there. Transition defense and defensive rebounding really hurt us. It was a disappointing result for us but it's not easy to get sweeps in this league."

NOTABLES

  • Trinity Western came up just short in a competitive matchup against Fraser Valley, falling despite holding strong advantages in several key categories. The Spartans dominated the paint with 42 points inside compared to the Cascades' 34, and outscored Fraser Valley 23–22 in points off turnovers. TWU also found success in transition, leading 12–9 in fast break points, and matched the Cascades 15–15 in second chance points.

  • While the Spartans' starters carried the load, Fraser Valley's 25 bench points proved decisive down the stretch, as TWU's bench contributed just 10. Despite multiple ties and lead changes throughout, the Spartans couldn't sustain momentum late, ultimately falling in a game that stayed close from start to finish.
