SPARTAN MALE ATHLETE OF THE WEEK I CONNOR PLATZ

LANGLEY, British Columbia –Trinity Western fifth-year forward Connor Platz (Langley, B.C.) is the Spartan Male Athlete of the Week after setting the Canada West career block record and helping lead the Spartans to a weekend sweep of the UBC Okanagan Heat this past weekend at the Langley Events Centre in Langley, B.C.
 
On Friday night, the general studies student broke the Canada West record for blocks in a career of 197 (held by former Manitoba Bison Myron Dean '09). Platz finished the weekend with seven blocks to move the career record to 203. Platz is now nine blocks away from the U SPORTS record of 212 held by York's Stefan Haynes (11).
 
In Friday night's 105-62 win over the Heat, Platz finished with 10 rebounds, eight points, and three blocks. Then on Saturday night, Platz led the Spartans with 19 points, eight rebounds, and four blocks in the Spartans' 88-53 win over the Heat at the Langley Events Centre in Langley, B.C.
 
Platz and the Spartans will now host their annual HOME COURT game against the Lethbridge Pronghorns on Friday, November 28, at the David E. Enarson Gym on the campus of Trinity Western University in Langley, B.C. Game time is set for 6 p.m. (PT) and can be seen live on Canada West TV.
