Game Recap: Men's Basketball |

SPARTANS FALL ON HOMECOURT

LANGLEY - Trinity Western was on campus Friday night, but could not capture the Home Court victory, falling 77-70 to the Lethbridge Pronghorns.

After a dominant last two games, the Spartans were looking to continue their winning ways on campus. The game was tight the majority of the way, but the Spartans found themselves chasing the Pronghorns, only leading for a total of two minutes. A couple late three balls brought the game to single digits, but it was too little too late for the Spartans.

David Mutabazi (Delta, B.C.) had one of his better scoring outings this season, scoring 20 points. He also grabbed nine rebounds and dished out five assists. Marcus Shankar (Campbell River, B.C.) chipped in 19 points of his own, shooting 8/12 from the field. Connor Platz (Langley, B.C.) rejected seven shots, and is now is 2 blocks shy of the U Sports career block record. For the Pronghorns, it was Kymani Pollard who matched Mutabazi for the game high with 20 points.

QUOTABLE

TWU Head Coach Trevor Pridie

"First, I just want to recognize the crowd and shout them out. I get reminded how special it is to coach and play in Enarson every time. Huge thank you to everyone who packed the place tonight. The crowd was great. Tonight, we didn't bring our A game and didn't shoot the ball well which really hurt us. I have to give Lethbridge a ton of credit – they came in and guarded us well. We have another opportunity tomorrow before the Christmas break."

NOTABLES

  • The Spartans controlled the offensive glass with 12 offensive rebounds, extending possessions and creating second-chance opportunities.

  • TWU's bench provided a solid spark, contributing 18 points, keeping the rotation productive throughout the game.

  • The Spartans were active defensively, picking up 9 blocks, protecting the rim and forcing Lethbridge into tough finishes.

  • TWU pushed the pace effectively, scoring 13 fastbreak points, turning rebounds and turnovers into transition offense.

  • Despite shooting struggles from deep (25.0% from three), the Spartans stayed competitive behind strong energy and pressure.

  • TWU generated 14 points off turnovers, capitalizing on Lethbridge's mistakes to keep momentum alive.
