LANGLEY – The Trinity Western Spartans keep on rolling, as they added their seventh win in a row, taking down the Pronghorns on campus with a final score of 87-66.
The Spartans played their only game on campus on Friday, and were without Blessing Ibekwe once again. The Pronghorns led after the first quarter, and kept it close heading into the third. The Spartans then took hold of the game and never looked back, limiting the Pronghorns to just nine points in the quarter. This was win number seven in a row, which makes the Spartans one win away from their record of eight consecutive wins.
Colette Van Der Hoven (Maple Ridge, B.C.) could not be stopped, having an unreal game on the offensive end. She scored 27 points, while shooting 11/16 from the field. Myrlaine Shelvey (Langley, B.C.) had 14 points off the bench, shooting 6/10 from the field, and added 4 steals as well. For the Pronghorns, Kamryn Dekler led the way with 14 points.

QUOTABLE
TWU head coach Cheryl Jean-Paul
"The 3rd quarter was really the style of play and energy we were looking for tonight. W gave up a lot of points in the first half but I was really impressed with how we locked things down defensively for most of the second half. We were backing off shooters and losing a lot of the 50/50 breakdown plays, especially in the first quarter and it really allowed them to play with a lot of confidence. But we found our way, took better care of the ball, had all 5 defenders connected on our rotations and good things happened once we were able to dictate the tempo and play in transition. That allowed Colette and others continue to find high percentage shots to give us a 52 point second half. It will be another tough game tomorrow, but a great game to win in the Enarson gym and we hope to finish off this semester well."
