LANGLEY, B.C. – In the first-ever Battle of Sparta outdoor meet, the Spartans had several impressive performances, with nine top-three results Saturday at McLeod Athletic Park.
On the women's side
Sheleena Wiley finished first in long jump with a mark of 5.80m. Aliya Adomi (3rd – 100m Hurdles – 15.31) and
Eileen Noordam (3rd – Javelin – 36.24m) also had top-three finishes, while
Sophia Bryenton was fourth in pole vault (3.42m) and
Erica Udoh was fourth in hammer throw (42.02m).
Harris Marshall helped lead the Spartans on the day with a first-place finishing hammer throw of 51.86m, marking the TWU's first-ever foray into hammer throw for the track and field team.
On the track, Danny Earles took second in the 400m with a blistering time of 47.83, while Justin Kiplagat wont the 1500m with a time 3:48.34. Kiplagat's time is the fastest 1500m ever run by a Spartan, bettering the Nick Colyn's TWU indoor record time 3:51.82.
