NORTHRIDGE, Calif. – Trinity Western's women's soccer team opened their 2025 campaign on Thursday evening in California, losing 2-1 against NCAA Division I Cal State Northridge at Matador Soccer Field.
Luciana Andrews scored for the Spartans, who outshot the Matadors 9-3, including a 5-3 advantage in shots on goal.
Sophie Crowther assisted on the goal.
CSUN's Cailey Jackson opened the scoring in the 10th minute before Andrews equalized three minutes later. The home team went ahead for good in the 18th minute on a goal from Yoshi Rubalcava.
TWU had a 4-1 edge in corner kicks.
The match marked the first-ever women's soccer contest between TWU and CSUN.
