AS IT HAPPENED
The Spartan opened the scoring in the 24th minute when fifth-year midfielder Francis Powell (Coquitlam, B.C.) sent Dan-Adokiene up the left side and in on the MacEwan net. Dan-Adokiene sent a perfect bending shot up into the top right corner of the Griffins' net to put the Spartans up 1-0.

TWU struck quickly in the second half to double its lead. Third-year defender Aidan Evans (Langley, B.C.) set up the goal with a cross from the right-side to Nana on the left side of the penalty area. Nana took a couple of touches and found space near the top of the box where he beat the Griffins' Popravka to make it a 2-0 lead in the 59th minute. MacEwan got on the board in the 71st minute when Alain Sitchet took advantage of a Spartans defensive error and was open with the ball on the TWU goal line, making the score 2-1 for the Spartans with 19 minutes left to play. The Spartans regained the two-goal lead in the 83rd minute. On a free kick from the right side of the park, the Spartans' Nana sent a perfect cross to the far post. Wiebe went high and beat the MacEwan defenders to head the ball into the back of the Griffins' net to make it 3-1 for the Spartans with seven minutes remaining. MacEwan's Guite made the game tight in extra time. Guite took advantage of a hard shot by Sitchett, who had broken into the centre of the TWU penalty area. Rogenthien made a diving save to his right on Sitchett's shot but was unable to contain the rebound. Guite jumped on the rebound to make the final 3-2 for the Spartans.
