VANCOUVER - The Spartans fell on the second night of a back to back to the #6 ranked UBC Thunderbirds with a final score of 91-66.
Â
Senior David Mutabazi was sidelined due to an injury that occurred in the game prior. The Spartans had a rough first quarter, only scoring nine points to UBC's 34. The Spartans did bounce back a little, but not enough to get out of the hole that was already dug for them.
Â
Tyus Devries (Chilliwack, B.C.) led the scoring with 18 points while also grabbing nine rebounds. Jack Vandenberg (Vancouver, B.C.) was up next with 10 points.
QUOTABLE
TWU Head Coach Trevor Pridie,
"Tough weekend for our group. UBC came out hard Friday and Saturday and set a physical tone early, and we never were able to recover offensively or defensively like we wanted to. Both nights we lost the game in the first 5 minutes. We'll take what we learned from both nights and focus on correcting some things.Â
The first 4 games to start 2026 are against arguably the two best teams in the Country, this is a great opportunity for us to get ready for the stretch run of season.Â
I was really happy with Pearse this weekend, he has been practicing really well and it carried over to the weekend."Â
