TWU MEN’S TEAM FINISHES FIRST AT PEACE ARCH INVITATIONAL

SOUTH SURREY, B.C. – Trinity Western's top team took first place at the Peace Arch Collegiate Invitational at Merdian Hills Golf Course.

The TWU1 team got off to a great start with Owen Field taking top spot in singles with a score of -10, while Everett Dabbagh was second with a score of -9.  Jacob Visser finished eighth overall at -4 while Zach Ruptash came in at -1. The combined average score was -6, which gave TWU1 a four-stroke lead over the top from the University of Victoria going into team play. In the team round, TWU1 and TWU2 tied for top spot, which secured first place for the tournament for TWU1.

Mattias Huberts, Ben Brandsma, Bailey Neufeld, and Ayden Tweedle, which combined to create TWU2, had an average score of three over par, putting them in third place after singles. After a stellar team round in which they tied for the top score, TWU2 finished the event in third place.

Men's Division (Par: 118)

QUOTABLE
Chris Hartmann, TWU Head Coach
"The course was not long by competition standards, but it did require a number of technical shots to score well. We spend quite a bit of our time practice on the par three drives and approach shots, so it's nice to see the teams score well with this kind of curse layout."
