SPARTANS MOVE UP TO SIXTH SPOT AFTER THIRD ROUND PLAY

ROCK HILL, South Carolina – The Trinity Western Spartans men's DII team finished day three with a -3 score to put them at -2 and in a tie for sixth spot with Michigan State and Tennessee at the DII tournament at the Collegiate Disc Golf National Championship in Rock Hill, South Carolina.

The foursome of Jacob Visser, Owen Filed, Everett Dabbagh, and Mattias Huberts shot -3 on the day and are at -2 for the tournament, two strokes out of third place, currently occupied by Ferris State and Ohio State.

The Div III team of Zach Ruptash, Ben Brandsma, Bailey Neufeld, and Ayden Tweedle heads into the final round in a tie for 20th after shooting a round of -5 in their third round. At -12 overall the foursome is four strokes out of breaking into the top 10 in the tournament.

Chris Hartman – TWU head coach
On the Div II team
"Throwing wasn't quite as crisp today, and birdies became just beyond reach. It was a series of putts from circle 2 that really helped keep things from getting out of hand. A couple of birdies on holes 16 and 17 got the team up into a tie for third place, but then a bogey on the very birdieable final hole placed them back in 6th place, where they started the day. Tomorrow is at the difficult Camp Canaan where anything can happen. The crew is looking forward to the opportunity in front of them."

On the Div III team
"The team had a solid start, going 5 under par through 10 holes, and then just couldn't quite find the circle for some good birdie looks after that. They ended up scoring a par on each of the last eight holes and at the end had a bogey-free round. Solid play but just needed a few more birdies down the stretch, and as a result dropped a few spots. Tomorrow on to the Winthrop Meadows course".
