LANGLEY, British Columbia – This Week In Sparta is one of the slower weeks of the spring semester with women's volleyball hosting the Regina Cougars as the only hosting team. Men's and women's basketball are on the road for their final conference games of the season playing the Fraser Valley Cascades and the UBC Okanagan Heat, with men's rugby in Arizona against Grand Canyon and men's and women's track and field in Spokane, Wash.

  • The Spartans are currently 11-5 in Canada West play, and in fifth place in Canada West. The Regina Cougars are currently 5-11 in CW and in 12th place in the conference.
  • The Spartans are currently 43-18 lifetime against the Regina Cougars
  • TWU has won nine straight conference matches against Regina.
  • The Spartans last loss to the Cougars was 3-2 on January 19, 2018 at home in Langley, B.C.
  • Last week, the Spartans swept the UBC Okanagan Heat 3-2 both nights on the road at the UBC Okanagan Gymnasium in Kelowna, B.C.

  • The Spartans are currently 13-5 in Canada West play, and in second place in the Pacific Division in Canada West. The Fraser Valley Cascades are 8-9 and in fifth place, and the UBC Okanagan Heat are 8-8 and in fourth place in the division.
  • TWU has clinched hosting the quarter-finals and play-in round of the Canada West Playoffs beginning February 13-14 at the Langley Events Centre.
  • The Spartans are currently 18-59 (14-25 in Canada West) overall against the UFV Cascades and 22-8 lifetime against the UBC Okanagan Heat.
  • Earlier this year, the Spartans split with the Cascades in Langley, B.C. winning 75-52 and losing 60-51.
