LANGLEY, British Columbia –Trinity Western fifth-year guard Cassidy Buchanan (Aldergrove, B.C.) has been named the Canada West BioSteel women's basketball Player of the Week.
 
Oct. 29 at UBC: 19 PTS, 7 STL, 7 REB, 4 AST in 76-67 win
Oct. 31 vs VIC: 23 PTS, 6 REBS, 3 AST, 1 STL in 72-56 win
 
Cassidy Buchanan helped lead Trinity Western to back-to-back wins over local rivals UBC, who entered the weekend ranked No. 3 in the country, and Victoria to open the regular season, averaging 21 points, 6.5 rebounds, 4 steals and 3.5 assists per game.
 
Her 21 points per game puts her third in Canada West while her eight steals has her fourth in the conference. She also finished a perfect 6-for-6 from the free-throw line.
 
Buchanan and the Spartans host the Fraser Valley Cascades on Thursday, November 5, at the Langley Events Centre. Tip-off is scheduled for 6 p.m. Pacific time, with the game available on Canada West TV at CanadaWest.tv.
