Kaden Schmidt (Mississauga, Ont.) has been named the Canada West BioSteel men's volleyball player of the Week.
Feb. 6 vs SSK: 24 kills (6/set), 5 digs, 2 blocks, 1 ace in 3-1 win
Feb. 7 vs SSK: 20 kills (6.67/set), 4 digs, 1 block in 3-0 win
Kaden Schmidt led the No. 2-ranked Spartans to back-to-back wins over Saskatchewan, averaging 6.3 kills per set.
The Canada West leader in kills, Schmidt had a combined 44 kills over two matches and seven sets. Schmidt now has a whopping 363 kills on the season for an average of 5.04 kills per set, which is more than one kill per set more than second in the conference.
Schmidt now leads U SPORTS with 363 total kills and 5.04 kills per set.
Schmidt and the Spartans will now finish of Canada West conference play this weekend when they host the Mount Royal Cougars on Friday February 13 and Saturday, February 14. Game times are set for 7 p.m. (PT) and 5 p.m. (PT) and can be seen live on Canada West TV.
