VICTORIA - The Spartans survived and advanced on Friday, as they won their play-in matchup against the Mount Royal Cougars with a final score of 76-68.
The Spartans, being listed as the 10 seed, seemed to have no problem knocking off the #7 ranked Cougars to punch their ticket into the Canada West quarterfinals.
Jack Vandenberg (Vancouver, B.C.), once again had a very impressive night on the offensive end, scoring 23 points, hitting 7 of his 13 three point attempts. Marcus Shankar (Campbell River, B.C.) also hit double figures, scoring 14 points of his own. Tyus Devries (Chilliwack B.C.) also had 14 points and grabbed 9 rebounds to go along with it. Connor Platz (Aldergrove, B.C) also hit double figures with 14 points, while also grabbing 10 rebounds and dished out 7 assists.

The Spartans play the number 2 ranked University of Victoria Vikes in a quarterfinal matchup at CARSA in Victoria. Tip off is set for 7pm (PST), as the Spartans look to keep their season alive. The game can be seen on Canada West TV.
