THREE SPARTANS NAMED CANADA WEST ALL-STARS

LANGLEY, British Columbia – Trinity Western Spartans fourth-year outside Kaden Schmidt (Mississauga, Ont.) and fifth-year setter Anselm Rein (Erfurt, Germany) have been named Canada West first-team all-stars, while fifth-year middle Cory Schoenherr (Waterloo, Ont.) has been named a Canada West second-team all-star.
 
Schmidt earned first-team honours by leading Canada West with 380 kills and averaging a Canada West-best five kills per set, more than a full kill per set, clear of the field. Rein, who led Canada West in aces per set at 0.56 and was second in set assists per set at 10.10. Schoenherr was named to the second team after finishing second in Canada West in hitting percentage at .453, while averaging 0.99 blocks per set.
 
The Spartans will begin the Canada West quarterfinals this weekend when they host the Saskatchewan Huskies in a best-of-three series, starting Thursday, February 26, at the Langley Events Centre in Langley, B.C.

About Spartan Athletics
As official members of U SPORTS, the Spartans currently compete in 11 sports in the Canada West conference, including women's and men's soccer, volleyball, basketball, hockey and track & field, as well as women's rugby sevens.
