SPARTANS FALL IN OT TO GRIFFINS

LANGLEY – The Trinity Western Spartans fell short to the MacEwan Griffins on Friday, losing 6-5 in overtime.

It was a late game collapse for the Spartans, as they led the game 5-4 with under two minutes remaining in the game, but could not hold on to take the win, and ultimately ended up giving up the game winner in the extra frame.

Aiden Knutson (Red Deer, Alberta) found the back of the net twice, scoring the Spartans first two goals, while Mikhailo Simchuk (Kyiv), Christian Lowe (Port Moody, B.C.), and Jonathan Krahn (Chilliwack, B.C.) also had goals for the Spartans.

Trinity Western goalie Cole Savage (Abbotsford, B.C.) faced 31 shots, and allowed six goals on the night.

QUOTABLE
Ben Walter, TWU Head Coach
"I really liked how we battled through this game and never gave up.  It is definitely disappointing how it ended but I am really excited for the direction that we are going.  Aiden Knutson had another very strong game for us and Landmanis, Leitch, and May played very hard, purposeful games for us on D.  We are all looking forward to getting a final shot at MacEwan tomorrow while we honour our graduating players"
