LANGLEY, British Columbia –Trinity Western fifth-year setter
Anselm Rein (Erfurt, Germany) has been named the Canada West BioSteel men's volleyball player of the Week.
CW Semifinal vs ALB: 33 assists, 2 aces, 2 kills, 3 digs, 2 blocks in 3-0 win
CW Final vs MAN: 46 assists, 2 aces, 1 kill, 5 digs, 1 block in 3-1 win
The biology major helped Trinity Western capture the Canada West championship with a dominant performance from the setting position, averaging 11.3 assists per set while guiding the Spartans to a .346 hitting percentage over the Final Four.
Rein, who is a Canada West First Team All-Star, also had three kills, three blocks, and eight digs himself in an impressive seven-set showing from the German setter, as he led TWU to its eighth conference title in program history.
Rein, and the Spartans are now heading to the U SPORTS championship, where the No. 1 seed Spartans will open up against the No. 8 seed Western Mustangs. Match time is set for 8 p.m. (ET) at the Toldo Lancer Centre in Windsor, Ont. The championship can be seen live on CBC Sports.
