LANGLEY, British Columbia – In this week's U SPORTS Top 10 rankings, the Spartans women's soccer team (4-2-2) remain in the rankings, dropping one spot to No. 10 after a split of a pair of Canada West Conference road matches. Other Canada West teams in the Top 10 rankings are the UBC Thunderbirds (8-0-0) at No. 1 and the Calgary Dinos (7-0-0) at No. 3.
In men's rugby, after a bye week, the Spartans (0-2) remain at No. 7 in the Canadian university men's rugby rankings. Other BC teams in the top 10 are the UBC Thunderbirds at No. 2 (2-0) and the Victoria Vikes (1-1) at No. 4.
In women's soccer last weekend, the Spartans defeated the UBC Okanagan Heat 4-1 Friday at Nonis Field in Kelowna, B.C., before falling to the No. 1 UBC Thunderbirds 2-0 Saturday night at Thunderbird Stadium in Vancouver, B.C.
This weekend the Spartans women's soccer team will return to Kelowna, B.C. for another match with the UBC Okanagan Heat on Friday night at Nonis Field, before returning home to take on the Thompson Rivers WolfPack on Saturday at Chase Office Field in Langley, B.C. Both matches are scheduled for 5 p.m. (PT) kickoffs and can be seen live on Canada West TV.
After a week off, the No. 7 Spartans men's rugby team will continue Coastal Cup action on Friday, October 2, when they host the No. 2 UBC Thunderbirds. The match at The Stadium at the LEC is set for 7 p.m. (PT) and will be shown live on the CBC Sports YouTube channel. Trinity Western is hosting the McTavish Cup men's rugby national championship November 17-21. The Spartans have an automatic berth to the championship, which will be played at The Stadium at the Langley Events Centre.
