LANGLEY, British Columbia – The Trinity Western Spartans had their hands full on Friday night at Chase Office Field, as the Spartans fell 4-0 to the visiting Fraser Valley Cascades in Canada West men's soccer action. The loss drops the Spartans to 1-3, while the win improves the Cascades to 1-2.
Scoring for the Cascades were Marcus D'Andrea (14'), Kyle Torresan (21'), and two by Mateo Brazinha (48', 58').
First-year
Jakob Frank (Delta, B.C.) played the full ninety and made one save in the Spartans' loss. Fraser Valley's Matheus De Souza made three saves in the Cascades' shutout win.

TWU will now head out on the road for matches against the UNBC Timberwolves on Friday, September 11, in Prince George, B.C., and the Victoria Vikes on Sunday, September 13, in Victoria, B.C. Both matches will be streamed live on Canada West TV

The Spartans generated early action with
Timothy Oyeleye's blocked shot in the third minute, but the Cascades answered with a corner and a Kyle Torresan header just going wide.
Jakob Frank saved Spencer Mellett's shot in the 12th minute during a stretch of Fraser Valley pressure. Marcus D'Andrea scored in the 14th minute to give the Cascades a 1-0 lead. After Bean put a shot high in the 15th minute, Fraser Valley added two more corners, with Kyle Torresan scoring in the 21st minute, while TWU's later chance came on a
Xander Roxburgh header wide right in a half that ended with the Cascades ahead 2-0.
Fraser Valley added to its lead in the 48th minute when Brazinha scored his first of the night off an assist from Marcus D'Andrea to make it 3-0. The Spartans came back with two
Marc Huizenga corner kicks, an Oyeleye shot, saved by Matheus De Souza, and later a Roxburgh attempt that De Souza also stopped. The Cascades' Brazinha got his second of the night in the 58th minute, finishing a pass from Ebi Igali to push the score to 4-0. TWU's Huizenga put another shot on frame in the 62nd minute for the Spartans, but was unable to find the back of the Cascade net. The final stretch produced no further scoring, with the Cascades earning the shutout win.
