Adam Schriemer enters his fourth season as head coach of the Trinity Western University men’s volleyball program in 2026-27 and his fifth season leading the Spartans, including his year as interim co-head coach alongside Ben Ball in 2022-23. Across those four completed seasons, TWU has compiled an overall record of 109-42 and a 63-25 record in Canada West regular-season play. Schriemer has helped guide the Spartans to two U SPORTS championships, in 2023 and 2026, and three Canada West medals, including conference gold in 2026.
A 2018 TWU graduate and former U SPORTS Player of the Year, Schriemer was officially appointed head coach in the spring of 2023, becoming the third head coach of the men’s volleyball program in the university’s U SPORTS era. Since that appointment, he has compiled an 80-33 overall record and a 45-19 conference record. His progression from championship-winning player to assistant coach and head coach has continued a longstanding connection with the Spartans program.
In 2025-26, Schriemer led Trinity Western to the Canada West and U SPORTS championships, finishing 17-3 in conference play and 32-5 overall. The Spartans closed the season with 11 consecutive victories, including a perfect 7-0 postseason. TWU defeated Saskatchewan in the quarterfinals, swept Alberta in the semifinals and beat Manitoba in four sets to capture the Canada West title. Schriemer guided the Spartans to a 12-8 Canada West record and a quarterfinal appearance in 2024-25. The regular season was highlighted by consecutive five-set victories over No. 1 Alberta at the Langley Events Centre, along with a straight-set win over No. 6 UBC and weekend sweeps of MacEwan and Thompson Rivers. TWU won the opening match of its quarterfinal series against Saskatchewan in five sets, but the Huskies responded with victories in the next two matches to end the Spartans’ season. In his first season following his permanent appointment, Schriemer led Trinity Western to a 16-8 Canada West record, a conference silver medal and fifth place at the U SPORTS championship in 2023-24. The Spartans closed the regular season with four consecutive victories before defeating Brandon in the quarterfinals and Winnipeg in a three-match semifinal series. TWU fell to Alberta in the conference final. At nationals, the Spartans recovered from a five-set quarterfinal loss to Queen’s with victories over Guelph and Laval, finishing the campaign with a 28-14 overall record. 2023-24 schedule
Schriemer and fellow interim co-head coach Ben Ball guided Trinity Western to a national championship in 2022-23. The Spartans finished 18-6 in Canada West regular-season play and went 7-1 in the postseason, earning conference silver before capturing U SPORTS gold. TWU defeated Brandon and Calgary in playoff series before falling to Alberta in the Canada West final. Before taking on the interim co-head coaching role, Schriemer joined the Spartans coaching staff as an assistant in 2019. He spent three years working under Ben Josephson, gaining experience within the program before assuming shared leadership with Ball for the 2022-23 season.
Internationally, Schriemer led Canada to gold at the 2026 NORCECA U19 Boys’ Continental Championship in Burnaby, B.C. Canada defeated the United States in a five-set final to claim the title. As a player, Schriemer helped Trinity Western reach the Canada West final in each of his five seasons from 2013-14 through 2017-18, winning conference championships in 2016, 2017 and 2018. He also played in four national championship matches, helping the Spartans capture consecutive U SPORTS titles in 2016 and 2017.
Schriemer capped his university career by being named the 2017-18 U SPORTS Player of the Year. He finished with 3,448 career assists, a TWU record at the time of his graduation and the fifth-highest total in Canada West history. His five seasons as a Spartan established him as one of the program’s most accomplished setters.
Following his university career, Schriemer played professionally with SVG Lüneburg in Germany during the 2018-19 season. In the summer of 2019, he represented Canada in the FIVB Volleyball Nations League before returning to Trinity Western to begin his coaching career.
Schriemer graduated from Trinity Western with a Bachelor of Arts in Communications and Media Studies and later earned a master’s degree in Coaching and Athletic Administration from Concordia University Irvine.
