LANGLEY, B.C. –Trinity Western guard David Mutabazi (Delta, B.C.) is the Spartan Male Athlete of the Week after averaging 16.3 points/game, 8.7 rebounds/game, and 2.3 steals/game as the Spartans went 2-1 at the Heat Classic tournament in Kelowna, B.C.

On Friday night in the tournament opening game against the Ottawa Gee-Gees, the third-year scored three points, six rebounds, and two steals in the Spartans' 74-48 loss to the top-ranked Gee-Gees.

On Saturday night the Psychology student had a double-double with 20 points, 10 rebounds, three assists, and one steal in the Spartans' 74-61 win over the UBC Okanagan Heat.

Mutabazi finished off the tournament by leading the Spartans to a dominant 105-72 victory over the Mount Royal Cougars by hitting for another double-double adding 26 points, 10 rebounds, and four steals to his weekend totals.

The Spartans will continue their preseason this weekend in Edmonton, Alta. at the MacEwan Griffins Tournament. TWU will play the MacEwan Griffins on Friday night and the Alberta Golden Bears on Saturday night. TWU opens up Canada West conference play on November 3-4 in Kamloops, B.C. against the Thompson Rivers WolfPack. Game time is at 5:30 p.m. on both nights and can be seen live on Canadawest.tv.
