SPARTANS START STRONG, DEFEAT BRANDON 82-45

REGINA – Trinity Western's women's basketball team started their preseason off right on Friday, defeating Brandon 82-45 in TWU's first game in the Regina Cougar Classic.

This was TWU's first game since their 68-64 victory over Victoria on Feb. 8th, 2020.

Nicole Fransson (Edmonton), Jayden Gill (Abbotsford, B.C.), and Kianna Wiens (Regina) combined for 44 points en route to their big victory.

QUOTABLE
TWU Head Coach Cheryl Jean-Paul
"It was great being back in a gym playing university basketball again – a long time coming and the score and play tonight is a testament to the hard work this group has been putting in since last year. We spent a lot of time in theory, putting the pieces together about who we could be as a program, so this was a great first step towards that. With only 5 returning players who competed in 2019-20, we have a lot of new faces and abilities to integrate into our style of play, so it's been exciting to see them step into roles and expectations and compete to make us better. Each game this weekend will reveal different areas of focus, so this first game was an indication of adjustments we made from last weekend's scrimmage to tonight. Our plan is to continue to improve and learn more about ourselves and our abilities each week."
