LANGLEY, B.C. – Trinity Western guard
Kianna Wiens (Regina, Sask.) is this week's Spartan Female Athlete of the Week after a 2-0 season opening weekend for TWU's women's basketball team.
Wiens kicked off her weekend with a 29-point performance at UBC. This performance was an efficient one for the fourth-year point guard, shooting 10-19 from the field with three of five coming from 3-pointers en route to a 72-68 win over UBC.
The weekend continued in strong fashion for Wiens as the guard scored 17 more points to defeat Victoria in TWU's home opener at the Langley Events Centre. The Spartans won in thrilling fashion, forcing the game to overtime with a buzzer-beating basket by
Nicole Fransson (Edmonton). TWU went on to win the game 73-66.
