SPARTAN FEMALE ATHLETE OF THE WEEK I NICOLE FRANSSON

LANGLEY, B.C. – Trinity Western forward Nicole Fransson (Edmonton) is this week's Spartan Female Athlete of the Week after leading TWU's women's basketball team to their third weekend sweep of the season.

Fransson and the Spartans are 6-0 on the season, sitting atop of the western division of Canada West.

Fransson, a third-year Spartan, was a menace on both sides of the court in Friday and Saturday's victories over UBC.

Friday's victory was TWU's most sizable win of the season, winning 75-52 against the Thunderbirds. This victory was the largest in TWU history over the Thunderbirds. Fransson was outstanding in TWU's massive win, scoring 19 points while adding 13 rebounds and five blocks. The five blocks made in Friday's win were enough to put Fransson second in TWU's single-game leaderboard for blocks.

After an incredible showing in Friday's sizable victory, Saturday's game script was a different animal. The Spartans found themselves at odds near the end of the game. With only a couple seconds remaining on the game clock, Fransson took a turnaround jumper to send the game to overtime. The Spartans went on to win the game 68-61 with Fransson posting an incredible line of 25 points, 18 rebounds, and seven assists. Just like the night before, Fransson's rebounding was enough to secure the second spot in TWU's single-game leaderboards.
